Wanna be a trend setter? If you do, than these cake pops are something out of the ordinary and they are some kind of delicious! After my friend Lauren brought these to my attention, I knew that my sweets addiction would not let me forget about them until I made them. All I could think of for several days were these cake pops. So I got to work…
I have to say, they were not as easy as I thought that they would be. It went something like this: baking 2 cakes, mixing up some cream cheese icing, mixing it all together, rolling them into little balls, freezing them, coating them with chocolate, decorating them and eating them. Wow, that was a sentence full! One thing I would do differently next time is keep them frozen up until moments before I serve them. If you don’t do this, they will thaw out and fall down the stick, making a not so pretty cake pop.

Ever wondered what to do with all that extra eggnog you have after the holidays? My solution…bake with it! That is my answer to most of life’s issues when it comes to eggnog. Eggnog spice bundt cake really outperforms many other holiday favourites and I will tell you why. The smell alone, wafting through your home, will put a smile on your nose for the rest of the day. The smell even encouraged me to put some Christmas music on and dance in the kitchen. Although this may not inspire you to listen to Christmas music since it is mid-January, I’m sure that you can bust your dance moves any time of the year! This cake also puts a nice finish on Christmas dinner or to a 12pm snack on New Years Eve or to a Chinese New Year party. The top comment I received from the partakers of this cake was that it was the “most moist cake they’ve ever had.” Bake away my friends!

In the middle of December my stomach growls for baked goods. This time of year always reminds me of the loads of treats that my mom bakes for Christmas. Some of my favorite treats include snail rolls, cheese buns, cinnamon buns with loads of icing, and candied bark. Every year at this time, my ticking stomach time bomb goes off and immediately wants to discretely tell my mom to get baking! This year, I decided to take action and try something new. These turtle bars will definitely be on the list of favorites for years to come.
I found this recipe on the Real Simple website (Real Simple)and it had some great reviews. However, some of the other recipes I was looking at didn’t have a peep of positiveness from its users. My favourite reviews are the ones where people say “I will NEVER make this one again!” They clearly were not living the dream when they were baking. Here on The Male Baker, I am always living the dream so believe me about the quality of baked good’s on here. Try em out! You may even surprise yourself. Continue reading

So the word is out there…I am getting hitched! For all of you loyal viewers, I have to tell you about a BIG secret. I know I have been letting you in on a few secrets lately, including the one about the Egg nests, but this one is the biggest of them all. So read the next section very carefully!
This message may not be applicable for everyone reading this, and if thats the case for you, pass it on to a friend or family member that may need some great advice on how to propose to the love of their life. This top secret information that I am about to expose may change the lives of many fiancées to be. Last Saturday, I proposed to my soon-to-be wife Hannah on Mount Rainier mountain. We went snow shoeing for the day, and after I nearly died falling off a cliff, I stumbled out the very important question. I found a little nook nestled amongst some trees, where we went so I could “catch my breath”/propose to Hannah. Breathe in, breathe out. Did she just say yes?! Of course the Male Baker never comes empty handed to momentous occasions, so I promptly busted out a bottle of champagne, 2 crystal glasses, AND the best coconut cupcake she’d ever tasted! We celebrated in style. I used my trusted Baked book and got to baking the day before. The obvious adjustments I made were to add more coconut anywhere in the recipe that I could possibly fit in without ruining the entire batter. This was to prove that I knew her exceptionally well by using one of her favourite tastes everywhere that I could! So take this secret how you want to, but I gotta say that a baked good to celebrate an engagement definitely adds a special touch. So bake away and let me know how things go!
Yup, its for real
Although Easter has come and gone, I have still decided to let you in on a little secret of mine. Instead of waiting until next year, I want to give you a head start for the next time you need some unique Rice Krispie treats! My mom always used to make these Bird Nests when I was a kid so I thought that I would remake them. These simple and easy Rice Krispie Bird Nests have the perfect ratio of marshmallow to butter to Rice Krispie and Cocoa Dyno-Bites. Each bite is so chewy and chocolaty and will have you grabbing for more. So now that my secret is out there, go out and concoct these beauties right away.
