Gingerly All Spice Scones You Will Love

After a long time of pondering about scones, I decided to give them a whirl. It took me so long to bake a batch because I’d heard they were so complicated. I heard everything from “Oh scones take years to master,” to “it is so hard to get the right consistency,” to “scones take so much time.” I didn’t want to believe it, so instead of listening to those pessimistic downers, I took out some recipe books that I trusted the most and searched for a scone recipe that would be my first one as a baker. The Male Baker as a matter of fact! I saw a recipe in my trusted Baked book and I decided to use it as a base.

To give these scones my own flare, Continue reading

Quick and Delicious Chocolate Chip Cookies

My quest has begun for concocting the best chocolate chip cookie. Most bakers go through this challenge once in their lifetime and it does take quite a while to find the perfect batter. My trick was to try out many different recipes and to use little touches that I enjoyed the most from each one . Now, after baking dozens of different kinds, I have found the first recipe that I would like to share with you. Although it may not be the last one that I show you, I can guarantee that these will be a hit!

This recipe follows Continue reading

Sweet and Simple Red and White Cookies

An original from The Male Baker kitchen! I just got sick of using other recipes and only adding my own touches. Instead I made this recipe from scratch and it went great. The last few weeks I have been doing a lot of research about proportions in baked goods, including cookies, and the flour mixture ingredients and their functions. Pretty cool stuff I know. I have been really interested in the science behind baking so I thought that I would put it to use. If you are curious about the proportions to make your own from scratch, keep an eye out for a post that covers some of what I have been learning. In the mean time, grab all you favourite baking tools and mix this concoction up!

By going out on a limb with this recipe, I wasn’t sure if it was going to work out or not. That is the kind of territory that I didn’t want to get into for the first few years of my baking hobby. But I figured out that Continue reading

Wee Leprechaun Irish Soda Bread

In light of St. Patrick’s Day, I decided to make a loaf that fit the occasion perfectly, Irish Soda Bread. Not only do the caraway seeds give it that very unique taste but they also make you feel a bit more Irish. Last night, we ate this bread like it was dessert because it was so good. Once you add honey or butter to it, you won’t stop eating it.

Although bread is a bit tougher to make, be certain that this recipe only takes 5-10 minutes to prepare and 25 minutes to bake. If you have not tried making bread before, why not give it a shot. You don’t have to wait for the next St Patties Day to try this recipe; Irish Soda Bread is great for any big feast. It pairs well with potatoes, beef and vegetables. Oh and thank you Janet for this amazing recipe! Continue reading

Tripled Layered Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Cake

What if you could just roll out of bed and have chocolate swirl coffee cake waiting for you for breakfast? Or, what if you could take a little nibble right before you went to bed with a cup of tea? Well, I am here to tell you that you can in just under an hour and a half! Seriously, I know it sounds daunting and it could possibly be the last thing that you ever dreamt of doing but you should do it. Besides, most of my time baking this coffee cake was spent twiddling my thumbs and watching the paint dry on the wall. No…wait, it was spent reading The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson and talking with a friend on the phone while the cake was in the oven! And it was in the oven for over an hour! If that doesn’t sound too appealing to you, than maybe you should just eat a lemon and call it a day.

None of these options suiting your fancy???At least take a look at some of these sick pics, take a deep breath and realize

Cookies N’ Cream Zebra Cookies

After searching for the next recipe to put on my blog, I decided on Zebra cookies. Not only do they have cream cheese in the batter to make them extra soft and chewy but they have Hugs on the top that just melt in your mouth after each bite. I have to give props to Sugar Plum for these cookies. If it were not for her idea, than they would not be found on The Male Baker blog for your enjoyment!

Although these cookies sound delicious, they are not. They are extra super duper delicious! I doubled the recipe yesterday and they are almost all gone. My guess is that they are different enough than any other cookie so people almost always go for seconds. In my belly, there are already approximately Continue reading
